To: All National Legal Foundation SupportersFrom: Steven W. Fitschen, PresidentRe: Christmas and New Year greetings and year end request
Just a quick note to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.
As I like to remind all of our friends each year, Christmas is a special
time here at the National Legal Foundation because
the NLF is not just a public interest law firm.
We are also a Christian ministry. We do what we do because we believe God has
called us to this task.
If there were no Christmas, there would be no NLF. Since 1985, one of the most important things
we have done is make sure there is freedom to preach the Gospel – including the Christmas message – in
And as you may have heard, this
year the ACLU and others are really on the attack! BUT ALSO THIS YEAR, you have helped us do so much to defend religious
freedom. In fact, we have been so busy
this year, we have written fewer letters to our supporters than ever before.
That’s right – the fact that you have heard from us less often doesn’t mean
we need your help less. It means we need your help more.
We have been fighting harder, putting in longer hours,
filing more
briefs, and helping more people than we have in years.
But that also means that we have written to you less often. And that means
that I’ve had less chance to let you
know of our prayer and financial needs.
As a result, we need to hear from you like
never before! In fact, I need to
hear from you just as soon as possible.
We MUST keep all the work going.
Here are just a few of the things you helped us do this year – some I
had time to write to you about and some I didn’t.
You have helped us fight the radical homosexual agenda. We helped draft state constitutional
amendments that defined marriage as one man and one woman. When you read about the eleven states that
passed such amendments this November, you can be proud that YOU helped make that happen! You have also helped us stand up to the ACLU and others as we defended the Ten Commandments yet again – in fact, we were involved in FIVE such cases this year. These are just a few examples of why your financial support is so critical. As you know, our services are free to our clients. After all, how, for example, can a group of high school kids afford to pay us to defend their rights? As I often remind you, when we win a case for our clients, we don’t get a percentage of what our clients win . . . because our clients don’t win money. They win the right to exercise their religion.
That’s why you are so important to us.
YOU ARE THE LIFE BLOOD OF THE NLF.
Without your prayers and
donations, we could not do what God has called us to do. As the year ends – and in the first few months of 2005 – we have an immediate need to eliminate the financial shortfall caused by our battles against the ACLU, the radical homosexuals, and the militant secularists. Please help continue the battle! I know that many ministries make such year-end appeals . . . but let me be specific. We have come up 11.4% short. With EVERYONE’S little extra help, I really believe we can wipe it all out! God bless you! |
