Planned Parenthood wants to have the
Partial Birth Abortion Ban declared unconstitutional. We must help protect
Dear Friend of the National Legal Foundation: It has been a long time since I have written to our friends and supporters about our pro-life work. We have been emphasizing all that we do on the religious liberty front and in our battle to preserve marriage. But now, as the pro-life battle is heating up, I thought it was about time that I remind you of all that you help us do to defend the most defenseless in our society—the unborn. I’m sure that you are aware of that hideous, evil procedure called partial birth abortion. You probably also know that President Bush signed a law—the Partial Birth Abortion Ban—that outlawed this murderous procedure. But now, three separate lawsuits are active in the federal courts aimed at getting this law declared unconstitutional. We must defend this law! We must help protect our unborn children from this barbaric act. And to do, it we need your help! As always, we do not charge for our services. That’s why we need your prayers . . . and your financial support. In this battle, we will be providing friend of the court briefs in support of Attorney John Ashcroft as the Justice Department defends the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.
Part of me wishes each of our friends and supporters could read the court opinions that have been issued so far in these cases. But part of me is glad that you probably haven’t read them—they are so horrible. If you could read these opinions, you would never again think of “partial birth abortion” as just a term. But if you read them, you would suffer the same anguish that I and the NLF staff have suffered. IN FACT, BEFORE I MAKE THE FOLLOWING FEW GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT THIS VILE PROCEDURE, I WANT TO WARN YOU THAT YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH. The thing that is so chilling about these court opinions is that the judges write so matter-of-factly about the brutal murder of defenseless babies. They make statements such as: If it is constitutional to allow babies to have their limbs ripped off in one abortion procedure, then it must be equally OK to partially deliver them and then crush their skulls and suck the brains out in the partial birth abortion procedure. I could give many more examples of such chilling language. The judges calmly describe in graphic terms each of the current abortion techniques and matter-of-factly tell exactly what happens to the babies as they die. AND THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND SAY THIS IS REQUIRED BY OUR CONSTITUTION! It makes my blood boil! We MUST fight this fight! Please, please let me hear from you today. If all of our friends—including you—help us, we will be able to file one or more briefs in each of these cases. And that’s what we long to be able to do. We don’t want to have to pass up any of the three chances to defend the children from this savage procedure—no matter how expensive the work is. I hope that you will be able to be part of the team that undertakes this vital project.
For the children, Steven W. Fitschen President P.S. We desperately need your prayers and support RIGHT AWAY! We may never get another chance after these three suits. If this law is declared unconstitutional, Congress may never try again . . . and even if it does, if America ends up with a pro-abortion President, he will never sign such a law. Please let me hear from you NOW! Thanks so much. |
