May 21, 2002 Office of the President Schools dont own our children. Neither do federal judges. God gave parents the responsibility to raise children. Help us defend their right to do so! Dear Friend of Freedom: Heres a story you wont believe. A schoolteacher in Texas named Karen Jo Barrow hoped to get a promotion to Assistant Principal. She was well qualified. BUT the school superintendent refused to even interview her because her children went to a Christian school. Thats right! The Superintendent engaged in blatant religious discrimination! So Karen Jo was forced to sue. She should have won. BUT SHE DIDNT! A federal judge said it was OK for the school to try to force Karen Jo to send her children to public school. And not only that, but the judge also rejected EIGHTY YEARS of Supreme Court cases that say that parents get to decide issues relating to their childrens education. So Karen Jo has had to appeal. And thats why I need your financial and prayer support again. You have been so faithful to help us in the past. With the Lords help we have helped so many people just like Karen Jo. Thats why her lawyer has asked for our help RIGHT NOW. We must file our brief in this case within days. As always, our legal assistance will be free. Thats why I need to hear from your today with your very best gift. I must know that we have the resources to fund this brief and all the other work the Lord has called us to. Every day we get new requests for help. UNFORTUNATELY, WE CANNOT HANDLE ALL THE REQUESTS. But we MUST be able to take more and more cases. You see, the forces arrayed against us are formidable . . . the ACLU, American United for the Separation of Church and State, and the so-called People for the American Way. If we dont stand up to them, they will continue to trample on the rights of Christians everywhere. And so will misguided and hostile school districts like Karen Jos. In this country, you cannot hold someones promotion hostage until they agree to remove their children from Christian school. With your financial gift today, we can help correct this judicial travesty! The decision in this case will impact every school district in Texas . . . and indeed every school district in America. We need to come to Karen Jos aid. And I need your help to do it. Please send your very best gift today and say "NO!" to anti-Christian bigotry. Thank you so very much, P.S. A victory in this case will also help send a message to all those federal judges who think that they can ignore the God-given right of parents to control the upbringing of their children. Please pray for and financially support Karen Jos very worthy case. P.P.S. This summer will be incredibly busy for us. Even as new cries for help continue to come in, those that we have already committed to are overwhelming the staff. I desperately need to hire additional summer clerks . . . yet summer is traditionally the time when contributions drop off. Wont you please send an extra generous gift TODAY to help us get our summer funding off on the right foot? People like Karen Jo are counting on you and me! |
